The thing is that he didn't even "misspeak," he actually believes this nonsense, as do a number of other conservatives.

Todd Akin's remarks about "legitimate rape" were inexcusable, insulting to women and victims, ignorant, and embarrassing to the Missouri GOP.

Even he admits he misspoke, but apparently some partisans see the need to defend the indefensible.

What do you think about his use of the term "legitimate rape"? What about his ridiculous assertion about a woman's body rejecting said sperm and preventing a pregnancy? Are you really defending this guy?

Oh, and as a refresher, this is the same guy who co-sponsored the legislation that used "forcible rape" and also the guy who didn't like the idea that married men could get in trouble for raping their wives.
