Provide a Tax Cut for Working Families: Obama and Biden will restore fairness to the tax code and provide 150 million workers the tax relief they need. Obama and Biden will create a new "Making Work Pay" tax credit of up to $500 per person, or $1,000 per working family. The "Making Work Pay" tax credit will completely eliminate income taxes for 10 million Americans.
A very big issue I have with Obama is the way he throws around the term "working families" or "working Americans".
"Obama's plan would keep the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts in place for everyone except those making more than roughly $250,000, and he would increase the capital gains tax.
Obama would also introduce new tax breaks for lower and middle-income groups. Such breaks include expanding the earned income tax credit, giving those making less than $150,000 a $500 tax credit per person on the first $8,100 in income, giving those making under $75,000 a 50% federal match on the first $1,000 of savings, and exempting seniors making less than $50,000 from having to pay income tax.
I assume you mean my bj comment. I originally posted that comment as a joke in response to some other posters' jokes/comments about Clinton. I'm sorry if it didn't come across as a joke on this thread

I don't know any of the those people. I don't trust that the government is able to make good choices with taxpayer money. If you look at presidential elections from the beginning they always claim that they're for "less government" and yet it continues to grow year after year after year--matters not which party you're talking about.
They can't spend or waste what they don't have. I know that it's the least among us who will suffer the most from this out of control spending. Most republicans (including most small business owners) understand this. They understand the system better than the typical employee because they experience the consequences ever single day.
The worst thing possible is to burden them with higher taxes. And the best thing possible for everyone long term is lower taxes and reduce government size and spending.
I suggest you do dig out those tax returns and look closely. Tax brackets across the board were decreased, personal exemptions were increased, standard deductions were increased, the marriage penalty was eliminated, capital gains rates were decreased, and the child credit was increased. If you indeed were in the same status and had similar income and paid more under Bush than Clinton then your accountant should be fired. So you can make claims until you're blue in the face. What you described is either inaccurate or what you filed was. I' sure you don't care if I don't believe you but I don't.
First of all, I was more concerned that it was an OPINION piece written by a man who heads up a conservative think tank (Heritage Foundation). That is CLEARLY a biased piece, unlike something from a reporter in the mainstream media who reports facts and is *held accountable* that any articles published actually contain facts. Opinion pieces by crazy right-wingnuts are not held to the same standards - sorry.
However if that is where you choose to get your news from, then more power to you, just please don't pass off such things as legitimate news reports to the rest of us who are actually trying to make informed decisions.
