What I was commenting on was general additute by some posters ( not you) that if you are not wealthy..you contribute nothing to society...that the hard work of those below the level of acceptable wealth is meaningless. THe thought that people who ask for a break...not a hand out but a break...are whiners and incapable of working for what they need or want. I truly think that many of us...regardless of party...are very much in the same boat. We probably have more in common than not. The path to get to where we want to be is vastly different and that is not really a bad thing.
I simply get truly saddened and frustrated by the general thought that only the wealthy are worth something. The idea that so many work so hard...doing thankless jobs everyday..and are then looked down upon angers me. There are millions of jobs in this country that crucial to the survival of our economy...so why should those hard working people be lessened? Yes..the wealthy provide many things in this country..jobs...buying power...etc etc. But without somone making the goods the wealthy buy...without people staffing restaurants...cleaning clothes...making cars...staffing airports..working in the grocery stores....driving trucks...Teaching children.....cleaning hotels...
I am so excited to have found this board. I have not read everyone else's responses to this question, so I am just posting something that I wrote on another board. These are my reasons for voting for McCain and against Obama.
Homeland Security and National Security:
For me, the most important issues in this election are Homeland Security and National Security. If Obama fulfills the promises he has made, such as cutting our unproven missile system and destroying our nuclear weapons, he will leave our country completely defenseless.
