Why do you think McCain is better and why do you think Obama wants a socialist nation?

,<< the first thing to get cut is wasteful spending.>>

Not usually. Usually the first thing that gets cut is services to poor people, then education, we don't even start to look at the really wasteful spending (most to be found in defence dept contracts IMHO) till the social programs are bled dry.

I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure

You don't seem to understand there is a REASON for having a lower LONG TERM CAPITAL GAINS tax rate.

That is relevant.

You are correct that everyone works very hard but it is an unfair advantage when someone who is very wealthy will get taxed differently and at a lower rate than those who earn wages through work.

Then perhaps instead of changing their tax rates, we should be more worried about changing the tax code all together.

"If only he'd have asked Obama what he thought about that proposal. I'd have loved to have heard the answer since it's doubtful he even would know what the question meant."

Um, I'm sure Obama would have known EXACTLY what he meant - it's quite a simple concept.

"Because you don't seem to understand that very well."

I really wish you would stop being so condescending toward everyone here.

"In otherwords, any time you realize a profit, you pay a tax on it."

Exactly, but if you invest money, are you taxed on the money PLUS the profit, or just on the profit?

"I do know some people who would be considered rich (above $250,000) and you know what.......none of them work 9 - 5........they work many more hours a day.....and they don't work 5 days a week.,.....some weeks they work 7 days a week"

I think you're QUITE aware (from other talks we've had on this board) that I wasn't being literal in the hours worked.

They actually make out better under a progressive tax then a truly fair flat tax, but I am not completely against a flat tax.
