I'm Queen Bea (or I was before in another life LOL). I'm old enough to have two children - one HS, one college - and still stay married to their father. My home is in a red state but I don't always follow the crowd. I stayed in school until I finally grew up and figured out someone would pay me more than minimum wage. Since then, I worked either full-time for a corporation or all the time for myself as a consultant. My curiosity is infinite but my patience is not.
I've been on various parent boards over the years. Thanks for saving a place for me, Bea
I'm Dee Dee, a 51 yo mom to 4 kids, ages 11-31. My husband, the boys and I live in the San Francisco bay area. My teen and the youngest attend the small private school that shares our home address. I stay busy driving them to all over the bay area and playing sherpa, both in the sense of being a guide and in the reality of carrying all their stuff. In my spare time I read, volunteer in a campaign office, go wine tasting, and enjoy time with friends.
"I have always been relatively conservative in my personal beliefs, although my vote hasn't always gone to the Republican party. I don't believe in voting for a party, I believe in voting for the person whom I feel is best for the job at the time, regardless of which party they belong to. (Hence, I voted for McCain in the 2000 primary - and will be voting for Obama in this election.) I always registered as "Independent" for that reason."
I think that sounds like the perfect approach to voting.
I'll raise my hand for the roll call.

Hi, I'm recent poster with a new name. I'm Currie, 52, naturalized US citizen (from UK many, many years ago), with 3 kids 8, 11, and 13.
I am loudly, and proudly liberal. I supported Hillary in the primary and I'm voting for Obama in November.
