What "facts" did you find in that article relating to McCain's character? All I read that could be construed as a negative character reference is Dramesi's account of a brief conversation decades ago, which, in my world, doesn't actually qualify as fact at all.

In the event I have a different definition of fact vs. rumor than the rest of the free world, I checked thefreedictionary.com. I discovered that I rely upon an accurate definition of both.

fact
Noun
1. an event or thing known to have happened or existed
2. a truth that can be proved from experience or observation

On the contrary, rumor is defined as

ru·mor
n.
1. A piece of unverified information of uncertain origin usually spread by word of mouth.
2. Unverified information received from another; hearsay.

To me, absent the account of the heroism of a surviving POW, this entire piece is chock full of rumor, void of any facts. And if we rely upon the common dictionary definitions of these plain English terms, I think we can all tell the difference.
