Not at all... people have had life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for generations without universal healthcare...

The reason it is "such an issue" for conservatives (and libertarians, such as myself) is that we prefer the government not have even more control over our lives.

"I personally don't like keeping convicted rapest, and murderers alive either, I don't want my taxes going to feed them and entertain them while they wait for appeals."

Woo Hoo, I knew you were just a closet conservative ;)

Ok, you want a story, I have one for you, and it is true. I was told this by my friend who is married to a Dr. At a local prestegious Hospital near me a young woman comes in 7 months preg. She had NEVER received pre-natal care because of lack of ins. She was also a part-time drug user. she was in pre-mature labor. She was wheeled in for delivery. When her baby came out it needed immediate attention, they put a pediatric mask on the baby's face to give it oxygen, apparently they should have used a neonatal one according to her and her lawyers. She sued the Hospital for over 2 million dollars, apparently the baby suffered brain damage from lack of oxygen, wrong mask was used. The hospital only used that mask briefly until a neonatal one was located. Of course the jury that was pick didn't know anything

I think making emergency healthcare a commodity is beyond the pale of living in a civilized society.

Yes, I am a closet conservative on several issues. Beleive it or not, it gauls me that there are those who are elligible for S-chips for their children try to get Medicade(Access) People who lie to get more than they are entitled to. People who receive disability when they could find some kind of job. I know of several such people, one goes to the Gym I go to and brags how his wife supports him and the other sits on her butt and complains her DH doesn't make enough money so they could have a new car. She is an RN who had her license stripped from her because she was stealing the patients drugs!

I'm sweating like a freaking pig. It's 75 degrees in our house (easily 97 outside) and my body is telling me it's 105 in the house. SUCKS. And don't even get me started on my "mood swings"!!

The egg donor has over a dozen egg filled cysts on EACH ovary, so the parents are going to hopefully get quite a few good embryos! The transfer is set for next week and I am SOOO looking forward to it. I'm going to go by myself so dh can stay with kids. They want me to fly up to SF the night before the procedure and stay up there until the day after the procedure. So, I'm packing my lap top, my netflix DVDs, some good magazines and preparing for a little bedrest in a nice SF hotel! I've invited the IPs to the procedure too, so I'll finally get a chance to meet them :)
