Obviously, people will say I am biased because I prefer Kerry, but I *do* think this crosses the line and is different than Michael Moore. Broadcast airwaves are owned by us, the American people, and the consolidation of media ownership is something that disturbs me greatly - no matter what the ideaology of the owner. We can all agree that many, manyt people are ready to accept things at face value without questioning the other side, the validity of the sources, or the motivation behind something. Using our airwaves to air 90 minutes no commercials, pre-empting programming, uninterrupted??? Can you think of any news story short of 9/11 itself that gets that kind of coverage??? I agree that it is a politically motivated item that should meet the in-kind requirements of election laws.

I think that we should be able to see it and decide for ourselves.

You don't find it a tad hypocritical that this same group that is ORDERING its affiliates to pre-empt programming and run this film commercial-free, refused to air a tribute to our soldiers who died in Iraq, because it was "too political????" I'm just honestly asking.....

No I think that decisions are made in every media area everywhere and why should Sinclair not be able to do what every other TV station network, newspaper chain, do every day!

Hey maybe they could play Fahrenheit 9/11 right after so we get a balanced view ;-)

So then why not air the soldier tribute? What is it about that that they don't want us to see??

Bush voter here and personally I have very mixed emotions on this ....... everyone so far has had valid points and I just am not 100% sure on how I feel about it.

I think I'd feel more comfy with it if it were not so *forced* upon ........ I dunno.

I agree with Sandy about feeling uncomfortable about it - I'm all for free speech and the opportunity for any station to go ahead and air this movie if they desire. But I think the line is crossed when the affiliates are FORCED to pre-empt their regular programming to air this. Then it's not FREE speech anymore.
