Realize that the programs available now were not put into place until the Great Depression. My ancestors are Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe. Trust me the jews were not exactly welcome here either. But most of our ancestors came to the United States around the 1800s and turn of the century. They came with the skills from their countries of origins. But lets face it they were white and given the chance. Even when quotas started to come into play as far as being able to attend certain colleges and even get to immigrate here. The blacks originally did not come here by choice. But they were also not allowed to succeed either
Yes there are so called white trash around but they are not the majority. Unfortunately poverty creates its own vicous cycle and it is a tough one to break. Mental illness, addictions and abuse create their own offspring.

The bailout packages are being financed by the Federal Reserve. The Fed is firing up the printing presses and printing paper money that has increasingly less value. Have you noticed what the American dollar is doing on international money markets?
