So you paid attention after he was elected?
How does this explain the fact that more 'affluent' people voted against their wallets and for Obama?
"In the aftermath of the 2008 presidential election, exit polls showed that 52 percent of voters who make $250,000 a year or more voted for Barack Obama."
"Nevertheless, this year, Mr. Obama managed to win both the rich states and the wealthy voters.
The reason, Mr. Gross said is that “angry yuppies who’ve hugely benefited from President Bush’s tax cuts…have become so outraged and alienated by the incompetence, crass social conservatism, and repeated insults to the nation’s intelligence of the Bush-era Republican Party that they’re voting with their hearts and heads instead of their wallets.”
There is probably some truth to that notion.
Here are two other possibilities: 1.) A higher percentage of wealthy, liberal voters came to the polls this year and a higher percentage of their conservative counterparts stayed home; 2.) In an election in which most voters said the economy was the most important issue, some wealthy individuals who tend to vote with their wallets, saw an Obama presidency as better for their long-term financial interests — and America’s — and were willing to overlook the immediate tax increase that is coming their way."
Maybe all those rich folks were hoping to go on welfare and see how the 'other half' live?
And I happen to believe my magic 8 ball. In 2004 it told me the future 'is cloudy' and it was. After Obama's election it said the future was 'looking good' so that works for me.
By the way, of the more than 50 people I personally know who voted for Obama, including family members, none of them have ever been on welfare, all are college educated, and most freely volunteer their time to help the world be a better place. No handouts here.
Ironically, the one member of my family who voted for McCain has actually been on welfare twice - go figure!
I am 100% Irish, and I can tell you that while our people were treated badly, and yes had their own drinking fountain, they were NOT treated as badly as African Americans. For one thing they came to this country by choice - not in chains. They had opportunities to work for pay - they were not slaves. They were able to marry who they chose and raise their children without fear of having their children sold as slaves. They were able to get an education - something the Irish have traditionally valued - while African Americans as slaves were not allowed to be educated.
So tell me, how did we have it as bad as Africa Americans? Even in Ireland we had it better than the African Americans did. That kind of dehumanizing treatment takes many many generations to undo - we are still undoing it.
ok, i see what you are saying, i just don't think of that situation in the same way you do.
I see that as capitalism.....
that rich family didn't force anyone....those communities had to see some benefit in order to agree to subsidise those activities....and it was still thier choice.
if we want to brauden the scope of "drag on the system", we will probably be able to find a way that every single person on earth is a drag on the system.
but i dee see what you are saying.

they sure do spend a lot of money (the ones i see on tv LOL)...that helps contribute
and I bet most of them pay a nice chunck of taxes on thier income from that wealth.
no doubt they pay local (real estate) taxes
what else would you like them to contribute?
i don't so much mind if they aren't helping society...as much as i care if they are hurting society
