I'm a Republican who voted for Obama. He seems to be resonable, and while I don't agree with everything, his positive tone kept my confidence high. McCain could have won if he'd have been as positive as he'd always promised he would be.
But it was worth it to see people gathering in the streets, cheering in unpolluted joy. Just 7 years later after 9/11, this country chose optimism over fear, and I hope I never forget that feeling.
I hope this gives the Republican party a chance to regroup and figure out who they are. I think 2 years will be too soon, but maybe 4 years?

ny facts on that? I am always hounded when I make assumptions without facts to back me up. So how do you KNOW the majority are not on any assistance? I tend to believe otherwise. >>
I see what's around me, I see my upper-middle class neighborhood with nobody on welfare with the vast majority of the lawns sporting Obama signs. HMMMMMM>>>>>>

First off, I wanted to post to this thread yesterday but didn't get a chance before it was yanked. Glad to see this thread has returned.
And the reason I wanted to post was to make this very point...
How does this explain the fact that more 'affluent' people voted against their wallets and for Obama?
ITA!

I see a terrible new generation coming up, one who only knows how to work a phone or computer, one who will never know a hard days work
Karen, I have to say that I think you're jumping to conclusions based on very little information.

I was away yesterday so this is the first I'm seeing of this thread and I have not yet read the other posts. I'm sure someone else has touched on this but, are you freaking kidding me? Because she doesn't want to worry about how she's going to put gas in her car or how she's going to pay her mortgage you think she's "entitled'? She did not day she won't have to put gas in her car and she won't have to pay her mortgage anymore, she said that she won't have to worry anymore. There's a difference. If you want to debate whether or not Obama will be able to lessen those concerns then fine let's discuss that, but don't

But the main thing I see in politics is the democrats changing, they used to be for the working class, now they're for the welfare class. >>
I'm sorry but this generalization and attack on the people who choose to vote for the democratic party is simply not true. The statistics from the last election show middle class educated voters resoundingly voted for OBAMA.
