The definition was "government assistance to those in need." It doesn't say anything about taxes whatsoever, so according to the definition, whether or not you pay taxes is irrelevant. It is a welfare program. If you want to differentiate between the types of welfare programs so that you aren't lumped in with those people that you speak so poorly of, then please make sure to do so in future posts.

Welfare is free money, no taxes paid out of it.

Not according to the definition. I just think if you are going to use your own definition of a word, it would be helpful if you would clarify what you mean.

Different than unemployment benefits which are taxed.

You were taxed on money that you didn't work for, correct? So basically, they gave you free money, and then took back a small portion of it as a tax. I fail to see the difference.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Sure, I guess we will.

Do you have any support whatsoever for the notion that people who do not pay taxes can get a tax rebate check?

Diverse we may be, but remember when one is wearing blinders it is very difficult to see, therefore we do probably all look alike. I wonder how different people 'look' to the blind? Then again as it is assumed that we all 'drink the same kool-aid' perhaps they are just looking at our kool-aid mustaches?

Did we all drink the same flavor of Kool-Aid or were there choices? I call cherry!

Yum - I like cherry too but don't you think our kool-aid should be blue?
