"So how is it you deserve unemployment, when you did not work for it, you did not earn the money you are getting and you did not pay into it?

I am not necessarily for shrinking govt, i am for shrinking govt waste....

if it takes more spending upfront (educational materials, classes, etc) that is fine with me if it pays off in the long run (for the individual and everyone else)

6 weeks def is a long time, esp when truly in need....i am not a fan of that reality at all...

what about if there were govt run food pantries, for which people needed a membership...like qualifying for food stamps (just not a long wait)...

that way people would have a selection of healthy foods, the govt could support local farms (govt cheese)...etc..

that way people who needed food could get it...and food stamps wouldn't be spent on luxuries, or non-nutritional foods....

<>

that is part of the issue, who gets to categorize the needy, and how do they do it...

for those that need a temporary hand, and wouldn't benefit from educational services....if they really won't benefit from the knowledge, then they shouldn't need help for very long....so maybe the education can be initiated after a certain amount of months on aid....

some people would probably benefit from classes, but don't think they would....or don't think the need to, and that is a dangerous mindset.

Well I have to keep rewording it because you keep changing your reasons for deserving it.

<< yeah, that is rediculous that those CEOs blew money they didn't have, and taxpayers are picking up the tab! i AM pissed about that...

but then...take that dollar amount...and take the dollar amount of every welfare recipient who wastes money on luxuries, and i am SURE that the welfare waste is way more than that excursion....

Very simple - we shouldn't be bailing out any company.

ok, so while we can't do the math i proposed earlier.....

how about this....it took very little time to find out that that AIG CEO excursion cost $440k

and that 125225901 people voted in this past election....

so let's just pretend that 100% of adults voted, (a very conservative estimate)….if that were the case….

that CEO excursion cost each of us $0.0035 per person...as taxpayers...

then...when you estimate that 5,000,000 people were on welfare (as in 2005

it would be GREAT if it were that simple, but unfortunately we are all so interdependant, if the banks went down, we would all be screwed.

I know several women at my job who use a cell phone as their only phone. It actually works out cheaper than many landline phones. You have so many different plans including the pay as you go.Texting is another story.
