this is exactly the coment that makes me think that you (plural) would rather ignore waste.

sure maybe one person abusing the system is a drop in the bucket, but collectively, it errodes the budget, and passes onto increased taxes, cutting into people's personal budget, and snowballing.

I don't at all consider it scapegoating, and i am not blaming one group for the downfall of anything....not just for the sake of pointing fingers...

it is useful to discuss waste and where we see it, and how it can be fixed...i am not just sitting here and saying damn those abusers...and i am not just sitting here and saying ho hum, waste is part of life.

You're basically saying that ignorance is bliss. But just b/c you don't see it first hand or know how to "fix it" doesn't mean that you should entirely disregard the issue and focus instead on welfare abuse. All abuse is detrimental whether it be welfare abuse, no-bid contracts, or corporations cheating the tax system. It's not fair to let corporations slide b/c you don't know how "to make the situation better" and then go on and put down welfare recipients who may or may not be abusing the system. You claim that individuals who receive welfare could make a difference by giving up their "luxuries" but what you seem to be forgetting is that corporations are made up of individuals. Shouldn't they be held accountable too?

Maybe I'm getting jaded in a liberal sort of way, but the ones I see benefitting the most from those kinds of classes are the companies hired to conduct them.

I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure

if you take my comment out of context like that, it could look like that is what i am saying...

what i was saying was that i am discussing welfare because that is what i am more exposed to...

I also said that defense spending waste angers me, but i am not aware of it I don't see it firsthand.....not that it is blissfull.

I think that murder is bad, but i dont see it often enough to discuss ways of fixing that problem...that doesn't mean i think it is blissfull, it means i don't know enough about it to bother discussing...

you can discuss military waste if you want if you know more about it.

as far as:

<< but what you seem to be forgetting is that corporations are made up of individuals. Shouldn't they be held accountable too?>>

what you seem to be forgetting, or ignoring is that those individuals that make up a corporation

Actually I was just about to reply to your post in which you recommended financial education for those on welfare. I completely agree. I think that someone receiving welfare should have to learn about financial management. It would be great if there was a way that the government could mandate financial courses in exchange for government benefits and maybe even college credits. Btw, this is exactly the way I feel about gun

However, there are a lot of differences between welfare fraud and corporate fraud.
