"pretty much every drug that can be tested for (not all of them can be) washes out of your system completely within a few days, so if you wanted to get welfare but continue to do hard drugs it wouldn't be all that difficult."

"So my question is this: If it's a matter of saving money, why is it welfare abuse that is the only issue being discussed? If it's not a matter of money, what is it about welfare abuse that gets to you so much?"

But doesn't it bother you that through loopholes and sometimes outright fraud some corporations are cheating the government out of tax revenue while at the same time you're playing by the rules and paying your taxes? It bothers me. All abuse bothers me whether it be a welfare recipient abusing the welfare system or a corporation or wealthy individual abusing the tax system.

Several ladies at the Child Care center I own make less then $1,000.00 a month. That's less then $12,000.00 a year. Could you imagine trying to live of that a support children too?

With the exception of extreme economic times, I just want to point out that although the percentage of people "on welfare" stays the same, the people themselves change. The vast majority of people use the program as it is meant to be used...temmporarily.

Where are you getting this idea that using drugs equals neglecting your kids? And marijuana is the only one that stays in your system for more than a couple of days. It can be detected 4-6 weeks after use. So all of this money we spend on drug testing is mostly just going to weed out occasional pot users. Yeah, that's so worthwhile.
