In my area and those around me. I am so THRILLED for the outcome of this election, every now and then I just get these tears of happiness from out of nowhere. But besides my family ( parents, sister and DH) NOONE around me is happy with the outcome and the things I am hearing are AWFUL. I want others to be happy with!
Yesterday when I picked up my 5 year old she was upset, when asked why she said " Lilly ( a classmate) said Obama kills babies" and she started to cry. In her little mind she thought Lilly meant he actually kills babies, and all she could think of was he was going to kill her baby brother! WHO TELLS THEIR FIVE YEAR OLD THAT??? I am livid!
Also yesterday at work DH told a co-worker how well spoken Obama is, the co-worker replied thats how the anti-christ is supposed to be. ( I have since found out the co-worker is the grandfather of Lilly!)
last night amongst friends, one says Obama is going to raise taxes to create welfare programs

I know!!!!
I am so sorry you all have experienced such things..especially to hear those things out of kids' mouths, when they don't even understand what they are repeating.
It's true that it's a great way to rebuild our economy by paying down the debt. An easier way to pay down the debt than increasing our taxes is to MASSIVELY and RADICALLY decrease spending. Why shouldn't we pull our military forces out of the 130 countries we're in, stop foreign aid to EVERY foreign country we lend any money to for any purpose, let the rest of the world stand up for themselves for a change and learn to foot the bill for their own growth and prosperity. That's just how it goes in the real world. When a bank is going out of business, they stop lending. When a family is on the verge of bankruptcy, they stop ALL unnecessary spending. There should be NO suggestion of spending ONE DIME MORE in ANY government program in 2009 than we spent in 2008. NOT ONE DIME. NO government employee should have a raise of ONE CENT. NO ONE.
If you think we can't do this, we can. If we don't, we're going under fast--if not the entire world economy, at least all of us who work for someone else anywhere but in the CEO payscale. There ought to be a complete spending freeze, and there should be NO MONEY spent on ANYTHING other than the EXISTING expenses (no budget increases in any area of the government) and concentrate ALL of our focus on DOMESTIC rebuilding. When families are on welfare, they don't put food out for the neighborhood dogs. They keep it for their children. Our government has no business aiding any other country when we cannot keep our own budget balanced. That's just common sense, and I haven't heard it from either party. And don't kid yourself--government is THE biggest employer and THE biggest business of all--WORLDWIDE. It follows that, if we're all broke and on welfare and all the other social programs, if we all receive government sponsored and government subsidized food, medical care, medical insurance, prescription drugs, we're all "clients!" The job of businesses is to build their client base, thereby creating more jobs, and making more MONEY. And if the government profits, and jobs increase, when people are dependent on social programs, it PAYS to create dependency. And those at the top will prosper--business will BOOM. Think about THAT.....

Part of his whole agenda was to expand upon the massive entitlement programs we already have. Then there is the issue of health insurance for all. The free tax dollars back to families who don't pay anything already....I know we have this already but he's vowed to increase that as well. The free ride for seniors making less than $50,000--another group of soon to be zero filers.
Then when growth slows farther because of the increase in taxes on the job providers and producers that will mean even less revenue is generated, so less taxes will be collected. The result, greater debt (which is already predicted) or higher taxes on the remaining left to tax until pretty much there will be nobody left to tax and the result will be everyone living off the government with maybe a small number of extremely wealthy still left. At least that's the way we'll head for awhile until the rebellion hits because there is only so much people will take.
Building wealth is a noble aim--spreading it through taxation as he freely states doesn't typically produce the results you'd like to think it does.
The comment on Halliburton is rather silly. Those private contractors do perform a job for the taxpayers for one thing. You don't sound particularly familiar with the defense contracting procedures. Sure it has to be monitored and managed--which it is, like any government program is or should be. Oftentimes it's the oversite folks who drop the ball.
Read my post again please! I never stated any such thing about John McCain's plans. Although of the two his were likely to do less damage.
The two candidates with the best economic stance were Ron Paul and Mitt Romney. Unfortunately their kind of change the population wasn't exactly ready for.

If that had even a scintilla of truth to it, McCain would have been all over these alleged "subsidies."
Some are criticizing it, but I like that Obama is considering many former Clinton staff for his own Cabinet.
From Clinton, we learned that increasing taxes stimulates a bad economy and job growth.
