In my area and those around me. I am so THRILLED for the outcome of this election, every now and then I just get these tears of happiness from out of nowhere. But besides my family ( parents, sister and DH) NOONE around me is happy with the outcome and the things I am hearing are AWFUL. I want others to be happy with!
Yesterday when I picked up my 5 year old she was upset, when asked why she said " Lilly ( a classmate) said Obama kills babies" and she started to cry. In her little mind she thought Lilly meant he actually kills babies, and all she could think of was he was going to kill her baby brother! WHO TELLS THEIR FIVE YEAR OLD THAT??? I am livid!
Also yesterday at work DH told a co-worker how well spoken Obama is, the co-worker replied thats how the anti-christ is supposed to be. ( I have since found out the co-worker is the grandfather of Lilly!)
last night amongst friends, one says Obama is going to raise taxes to create welfare programs

I think the two compliment each other.
I'm not sure if you care to respond.

Bill Cliton hurt us by decreasing troop numbers. Obama has already stated that he will not do this. Obama has also promised that he will continue to create a stronger better military. Our troops didn't not have the gear they needed going into this war. Remember Rumsfield,"we go into war not with the equipment we need but with the equipment we have. One of the reasons I will NEVER for a Republican again. Private contractors, who go to Iraq, make up to 4 x more then our soldiers do. Haliburt go most of the contracts there were no bidding wars. I am sure there were a lot of RNC members who got rich in that exchange.

I think that needs more explanation though.

Yes, I remember that too well.

You are correct that Bill Clinton did cut spending in the
>>Did you return the tax rebate checks Bush sent out several times, the average check being $600? Those were actual subsidies - free money. Did you criticize those subsidies? Why not?<<
I couldn't return what I never received but I surely did pay for others to receive them. I did criticize them to some extent in that I think it was a poor use of tax dollars. I did not view them as "welfare" to the extent they were a return of taxes "paid". To those who received refunds in excess of what they paid--WELFARE, pure and simple. And yes, they went to those who paid nothing. And yes, Obama has said he would do the same. And yes, he was criticized for it.
>>I give credit to Obama for being fiscally responsible and, at the risk of losing the election, promising to raise taxes on those earning above $250K.<<
How do you give "credit" to someone who hasn't yet done anything? How could he run the risk of losing the election by threatening to raise taxes on such a small minority of the electorate? I find it odd that a liberal who is suppose to recognize the rights of the minority is so quick to vote to screw them when they feel justified in doing so.
>>It is silly that all of these private contractors are making so much. The funniest thing I guess were the many no-bid contracts Bush executed. $12 Billion/month is a lot. It's certainly not going into the bank accounts of those risking their lives in Iraq. Do you think it's silly of them to join our armed forces?<<
So you don't feel it's right for someone to sacrifice a few years in the armed forces so they can receive training and learn skills which will allow them to make more in the future? Do you know why no-bid contracts are issued? Do you think "time" and "need" and "urgency" might be a factor? So contractors aren't risking their lives in Iraq? Silly to join the Armed Forces? I think everyone should join the armed forces and do their part. I've supported the armed forces in many capacities throughout my entire adult life.
>>Don't forget however there are plenty of private contractors - corporations - who reside in the US and don't even get their hands dirty in Iraq. They are developing the "advanced" technology and other weapons our troops allegedly need in Iraq. THAT is criminal and I will dance when we pull out of Iraq and these US corporations dissolve, disappear and (crossing fingers) go bankrupt. They are vultures. They've mooched off the American people too long.<<
That is such a scary thought. To imagine there could be nobody in the USA developing advanced technologies which might help save lives. To know there are citizens wishing to put job providing US businesses "out of business". The whole concept is such threat to our well being from an economic and national security standpoint. They've mooched off the American people? Or could it be the American people should be thanking them for the service they provide, the jobs they create, and the very many taxes they pay?
But if you could better explain your though process, I'm all ears.
