I think that happens all over, it happened to us also. You buy a house, the taxs get re assesed, and your tax goes up. But you have to remember, it is tied into the school tax, so if the teachers get a raise, oftimes your tax will go up. It's the millage that increases with every new Teacher's contract, so you can't blame that on Rendell. I don't know what part of PA you live in but i'm pretty sick about the PP&L rate increases-- like 35% for home owners come 2010, so you can opt to have them increase slower by paying them more now. Rendell is trying to get a lid on them, but hey, it's greedy business! The CEO of PP&L made 9 million last year. PP&L are always making big profits.

I know people hate to do improvements on their homes, or put additions on, they come around and assess again!

Oh...and I do feel your indignation. That's why it so befuddles me that you'd actually be proposing or in support of giving them more of ANYONE's money to control.>>

Fleur, do you know if your school district opted into Act 72 which your governor has available to the public?

Yes, we had a Homested Act. People in certain income levels could apply for it, and get a small reduction. We are still waiting on some revenues from the gambling, I won't hold my breath.

It looks like these two Acts are different and you may want to investigate on Act 72.

So the Republicans are now the party in favor of government regulation?
