Too bad, guess you'll think twice when you realize a robber is in your house with a gun heading to your kids room.
You know, I thiink my two year old gets it best, he asks why I don't leave the sunscreen off of him, so he can get as 'tan' as his friends.
I think it's kind of weird, but then I am not considered a minority.

It is shocking!
I agree that it might be different for a minority, but I see lots of people being proud of things I don't think they should be. Obviously, it's not up to me to tell someone what to be proud of. But, for example, I have never understood why models are proud of their looks. Sure they are beautiful and they make a lot of money off of it, but they didn't have to work at all to look the way they do. They were born with beautiful, physical attributes -- why should they be proud of their genetic make up when they had nothing to do with it? It just doesn't make sense to me.
Now if someone were to lose a lot of weight and now felt incredibly beautiful, as well as being healthier and happier, I would be incredibly proud of that. But the difference is that the second person really had to work hard to achieve that look, whereas the first person just lucked into a good genetic make up.
"And honestly, why do you care if I have a gun or use a gun? What difference is it to you?"

And FYI, I grew up with guns, my DH grew up with guns, my niece is growing up with guns, my kids are growing up with guns.
