"given how the left is always complaining that giving tax cuts to the "rich" is giving money from the poor to the rich, how come when the money is flowing in the opposite direction, suddenly, it's no longer a transfer payment?"
My idea of country first is that everybody should participate in paying for our government. I don't have issue with the system being progressive in nature but feel it is very dangerous when you have 42% of income earners who pay nothing at the expense of everyone else. When you have no skin in the game it suddenly doesn't matter as much as to how someone else's money is being spent. People pay far more attention when they have something on the line--even if it's a small amount.
It would also garnish them more respect. Kind of like the whole "If you don't vote-you shouldn't complain" concept. If you pay nothing but continue to reap at others expense, how do you expect to be respected?
Everyone should be proud to be a participate and ashamed that they're not--unless they be completely and utterly disabled.
Sorry, what has been happening now has NOTHING to do with the Democrats taking over the House! I'm so sick and tired of "blame the Democrats mantra" It is happening because "what goes up, must come down" We are in DEBT! We are spending more and borrowing more than ever in History. Why do the conservative keep this Blame Game up on the Democrats. Conservatives really do despise the Liberals, don't they? Calling us Godless, unpatriotic, leftist, socialist, marxist. It really is disgusting.
