At least Obama is telling us exactly what his philosophy of government actually.

It's taken us 25 years of hard work to get where we are. We're paying our kids' way through college now. We don't drive "nice" cars, we drive high mileage old cheap cars. We live in an average house. I've never owned and will never own a Coach purse. We're saving for retirement which hopefully will come in less than 10 years, hopefully the year our youngest child graduates from college. We have a severely disabled child who is medically fragile and will never be able to care for herself. She will be our financial responsibility for the rest of her life, however long that will be. That requires us to save even more for her future care if we want to retire.

Not everyone lives the posh life you do. If the cost of living in your area is reasonable you're very lucky. Not every area of this country has a reasonable cost of living. You make assumptions about people that you are not in a position to make. I do think that the money we earn is ours to save (or spend) as we see fit so that we don't have to become a burden to the government when we are retired. We pay taxes, a lot of taxes, and I'm not complaining about that. I don't believe my wealth should be "spread around" and that doesn't make me selfish. I question the wisdom of Obama's entire economic plan. I'm not opposed to him simply based on his socialistic tax plan, which I believe will have very negative effects on the economy and hurt the very people he pretends to want to help with a check for $500. I guess you can say I'm voting for McCain because I'm looking at the big picture and I don't want the middle class to be hurt, which I have absolutely no doubt will happen if Obama wins.

The single mother of 4 you mention is already on welfare so she's already being helped.

I'm headed off to bed so I'll get back to you on the rest but I'm not mad at her at all. I'm voicing my differing opinion, what this board is all about. You may have read a very different tone into my reply from that which I intended when I wrote it. Just because I reply doesn't mean I'm mad, it means I disagree.

BTW, just so there's no confusion, I'm replying to you because I disagree. I'm not mad. ;-)

Theft is immoral, regardless of whether it is done by an individual or by the government.

I often wonder when this liberal idea that theft is okay started?

You mean those people who think it's perfectly okay to take/steal money that does not rightfully belong to them?

>During the Bush administration there has been a significant, socialistic redistribution of the wealth upwards.<

There has never been a seizure of funds from the lower classes to award as a gift to the upper classes.
