At least Obama is telling us exactly what his philosophy of government actually.

Please pay attention. The amounts listed are for individuals. It has always been stated that families making over $250,000 and individuals making over $200,000 would see a tax increase. I stated it myself when I explained where the 3 numbers came from.

Absolutely, nor is distribution of wealth the role of the government--or rather not as it was intended.

Coach purses? I can't believe someone even made that comment. Envy and ignorance are the two words that come to mind.

Seriously, just how is expecting so few to pay for most everything even remotely fair to them? Why should some get the benefit of their entire dollar while others must earn $1.35 to get the benefit of a $1.00? Isn't that unreasonable enough?

Have people really become so complacent that they'd rather have the government make their decisions for them because that's what happens. All levels lose out when the government gets their hands on our earnings.

So sure, you may get your food stamps or your longer unemployment benefits but wouldn't you rather have a lower standard of living or an actual job instead?

People complain about the unfairness of government, its wastefullness, favoritism, cost etc...and yet instead of reigning them in we vote to give them more?

I guess you can justify it in that short sighted mind if you can't see how you've been duped but lead to believe it's all the fault of the wealthy and they're the ones who will pay through taxation! (YOU collectively and in general mind you)

Really, how dumb have we gotten? Is that the goal of our public school system?

Not strange, true, but not strange

I would much rather have a lower cost of living but how exactly do we go about accomplishing that? Actually, it's not so much the cost of living that bothers me as it is the fact that low and middle class wages have not increased at the same rate. How is someone expected to afford their daily living costs if those costs continue to rise but their wages do not?

I'm not saying they necessarily have a "right" to take it; I'm saying it is not remotely like enslaving someone or killing them.

<>

Well, why not? Right are always conditional. I have the right to all sorts of freedoms, but the government will impinge on those freedoms in all sorts of ways for the benefit of the public good. So for example they can get arrest warrants and go charging into my house and confiscate my things if they suspect I've committed a crime. I am ok with them imposing those conditions on my rights because I see the benefit. Why doesn't it make sense to say: you have a right to your property, but once you've accumulated so much property that accumulating more isn't really making your life any better, then we will take some of it and use it toward the public good. This will also be an investment in helping you maintain your property and happiness by keeping crime rates lower and providing you with an educated and healthy workforce to fuel your business. And if people in the top income brackets really don't see the value in that, then they certainly have the resources to take their property and go somewhere else.

What's your problem about my comment on coach purses?
