At least Obama is telling us exactly what his philosophy of government actually.

I don't think we ever should have gone into Iraq in the first place, and I question the legality of having done so.

One could argue that since the Congress authorized the use of force, it was a lawfully-declared war, ostensibly on the grounds of the "Clear & Present Danger" of Saddam having weapons of mass destruction.

Am I "OK" with the debt of the war? Hell no.

"The rich ones that made out did so because of the debacle of Fannie and Freddie and the following bad loan bundles. Totally that one belongs to the dems. Its been proven so there is no valid claim that the fat cats gained because of Bush, they gained because the dems wanted to give loans for homes to people who could not afford them to get their votes and the Wall Street guys figured out how to make money on this."

The credit crisis is the fault of many parties including both Democratic and Republican legislators, current and past presidents, Greenspan, and perhaps most notably the Wall Street firms that were gambling on the housing market with credit default swaps that they did not understand. It would be nice if we could just make it a partisan issue but it's not, it's a much broader mix of public and private, and therefore scarier, failure of foresight and oversight. Fannie and Freddie are the tip of the iceberg.

60 Minutes has done two very good pieces on the credit default swaps that I highly recommend watching:

So first, and we may differ on this, I cannot equate slavery and killing to taxes. I know you are making a point but the comparison doesn't resonate. Besides the fact that taxation does not literally deprive people of their physical freedom or health, as some others have pointed out, there is an immediate benefit to 95% of people and a more latent benefit to the other 5% through stimulation of the economy (or so the theory goes).

We live in a monetary economy.

Oil companies get tax breaks voted for by Obama.

I'm personally extremely interested in finding out what Ron Paul's idea of the Gold Standard could do for our nation. I think American needs a major overhaul of the economy. I'm going to get his book The Revolution. I know he has his critics as well, but I feel that I owe it to myself to check it out. I have four kids that are growing up in this country and I need to make a more informed decision about this election. Ron Paul may not be running anymore, but he is endorsing Chuck Baldwin and Baldwin has plans to use Paul's approach.

Obama's plan for health care would totally ruin my economy and my family. There's no way his plan would work in my situation, nor in many other Americans. It would end up destroying what little amount I do have. I will not allow myself nor my family to become a victim of his health plan.

In the abstract, there's much to recommend the gold standard - if you're truly in a free market rather than a state-driven economy.

From what I understand, and correct me if I'm wrong, that even if Paul's plan for the gold standard was implemented, we would indeed still see a decline for a short time until it balanced out. Yet if the end result is a flourishing economy, or even a well balanced one, I'm for it. Yet I do want to do more studying about it. I just don't see how the Republicrats have ever been able to make a substantial change in our economy.

I also think it's interesting to note what other countries have gone through, throughout history with their economy. We can learn a lot from our world's history. It seems that the more we keep heading in the same direction, the more problems arise. Stop spending and you'll come out of debt. May take a while but it's the best plan. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. My mind keeps going back to the days of Robinhood and Prince John. A fable, maybe so, yet so much truth to it. Priest Mouse, "They're taxing the heart and soul out of the poor people."~Disney's Robinhood. ;O)

Robin Hood... interesting how that fable can be modified to suit your goals...

The liberals can believe it is "take from the rich and give to the poor" (since the Normans Robin robbed were rich and the Saxons he gave to were poor)

Conservatives can believe it is "fight unjust authority" (since King John was a usurper)

Libertarians or anarchists can celebrate "smash the state"

"Oil companies get tax breaks voted for by Obama. Voted against by Mc Cain."

I'm sure this has been covered before but I'll explain this again.......this particuliar bill was part of a larger bill that the Democrats were pushing through to cut down carbon omission and "green" up America, it was the first bill ever passed to actually take stands to save our planet. Bush said that the only way he would pass that bill was if they gave the oil companies this huge tax break.

I think you meant to post this to "nomorepc" - just want to make sure the right eyes see it!
