Some Hollywood Stars' Thoughts on Palin

I never knew that I could agree more with people that have so much money, influence, and talent.

***************************************************************************************
***************************************************************************************

"sarah p -- elisabeth h

= identical cousins

women who hunt in high heels gives one pause."

-- Rosie O'Donnell, on her blog, taking a dig at Elisabeth Hasselbeck, with whom she worked on "The View"

************************************************************************************

"I don’t think I would want her running the country.... I’m not going to vote for her because she’s a woman.

"We disagree on a lot of issues, and that’s why I support Obama and Biden.”

-- Eva Longoria on TV's "Extra"

**************************************************************************************

"This woman hates women.…She is not a feminist. She is not the woman that's going to come behind Hillary Clinton and do anything that Hillary Clinton would've been capable of.... I can't imagine overturning Roe vs. Wade. She's not of this time. The woman terrifies me."

-- Pink to PopEater

****************************************************************************************

"As someone who has spent over 40 years advocating on behalf of women both politically and philanthropically, as someone who was a strong supporter of Hillary Clinton and as someone who cares deeply about the health and welfare of all women, hear me Senator McCain: This calculated, cynical ploy to pull away a small percentage of Hillary's women voters from Barack Obama will not work. We are not that stupid!”

-- Barbara Streisand, on her blog

***************************************************************************************

I think there’s a really good chance that Sarah Palin could be president, and I think that’s a really scary thing, 'cause I don’t know anything about her -- I don’t think in eight weeks I’m going to know anything about her. I know that she was a mayor of a really, really small town and she’s the governor for Alaska for less than two years. I just don’t understand. I think the pick was made for political purposes.... Do the actuary tables and there’s a 1 out of 3 chance, if not more, that McCain doesn’t survive his first term and it’ll be President Palin…. It’s like a really bad Disney movie. The hockey mom, you know, ‘Oh, I’m just a hockey mom’… and she’s facing down President Putin …. It’s totally absurd …. It’s a really terrifying possibility.”

-- Matt Damon, Associated Press

************************************************************************************

"At first I thought Sarah Palin was some kind of Republican pandering -- a misguided attempt to woo Hillary voters over to the dark side, as if they believed women voters were so stupid that they would vote for anyone in a skirt, but now I see that she is much, much worse. I have nothing against hockey moms -- I just don’t want to be one. If Sarah Palin had her way, she would take away that right not to be a mom. She wants to outlaw abortion -- so to call her a feminist is as laughable as calling evangelicals ‘Christians.’ They shouldn’t have the right to call themselves Christian, for they have no Christ-like attributes."

-- Margaret Cho, on her blog

************************************************************************************
"It's amazing that a woman has come that far. But from what I know about her, her policies are not things I agree with."

-- Meg Ryan, during a press junket for "The Women"

i love the thoughts you share here, nightowl - but i have to agree.

i don't think the opinions of hollywood stars carry any more weight than that of sports stars. i don't dispute their right to share their opinions, i just don't think they know any more about the issues than my neighbors.

I don't necessarily agree, granted most of them don't have the day to day financial struggle many of us have, nor does the high rate of unemployment affect them in many cases.

they aren't usually the ones broadcasting what they do .... like them or not, what they do is a beautiful gift that many are thankful for.

Would I do similar things if capable?

I just wanted to mention that most of them weren't born into wealth and privilege, and many had to struggle for years.

~worthless people~

I'm pretty sure that neither of us is in a position to pass judgement on another person's "worth".
