Has anyone else heard that the outspoken sheriff, the one who is out front politicizing the shooting, might be trying to cover up the fact that his dept has had run ins with the suspect in the past...including reports of the shooter making threats on the lives of more than one person in the past? The sheriff assured the citizens that the suspect was being well managed in the mental health agencies of the county and that filing charges wouldn't help the citizens. Also that the suspect's mom is a county employee...if that is the case how might this have influenced the dept's decisions not to press charges? If a felony charge had been brought against this mad man, would he have been able to purchase that gun? Does the sheriff maybe have cause to worry that he needs to cover his own rear end? Hmmmm, I was wondering why this man was so out front in his placing of blame...unusual for a law enforcement position. Maybe this makes sense......

Granted these are bulls-eyes instead of gun-sights, and the targets are states not individual congressmen. But we’re really splitting hairs at this point.

I disagree. I think that targeting states is very different than "aiming" a cross hair on a named congressman.

Time will tell if these things are true.

Remember when no one wanted to believe that John Edwards was having an affair, and had a "love child" because the Enquirer was the rag to break it??? Well, this may prove to be just as true...and even if it doesnt, then I would have simply put out conjecture and opinion, much like the esteemed sheriff has been.

Districts....congressional districts held by dems who voted for healthcare that Bush had won. Districts were the "target".

Libs are being SO disingenuous.

...and it will(and is) backfire on them again. I think by a 57 to 32% margin, the public does NOT think that political speech/rhetoric were behind this idiot's killing spree. Those try to score political points through such heinous crimes are lowly.

I am very well versed in mental health issues, my best friend is bi-polar and my cousin is schizophrenic. I have seen the effects of mental illness on a daily basis for most of my adult life. I know what those with mental deficits are like without their meds and I know what they are like when they are stable. Being trained in the field of medicine, I also know that I am not qualified to diagnosis someone and this is why I said what I did. Often times people with mental illnesses go undetected, or untreated, and this is often times the result.
