First off, his plan would only mandate coverage for children.
Second, are you trying to say that it's GOOD or BAD to mandate coverage?
Ok, this is interesting. One of the comments made was if the employer was relieved of paying Ins for the employees, maybe they could raise their salaries. HMM. I certainly wouldn't hold my breath on that one. Furthermore, once a year, my DH's employer sends out statements saying what the total compensation is and the ammount they pay towards the Health Ins for my Dh and me is included AS INCOME, for the simple reason to show how much he is being paid yearly. Two years ago, my DH was getting a LOT of overtime, they were expected to work all the overtime that was offered. Now with the economy as it is, there is hardly any. The overtime made up for the 325.00 a month that was taken out for ins. Employees with children also were paying close to 600.00 a month.
I found this explaining some of McCain's proposals.

We get a similar information sheet every year, adding up for vacations, sick days, personal days (all of which are actually included in his salary, but it would be separate for hourly people) as well as insurance, etc. to total what his actual salary is for the employer.
