I was at Chilli's on Friday and noticed several large groups of people and all of them were drinking. So they have no sober driver!

"UMMMM, drinking and driving is illegal."

No, it isn't. Driving with a BAC level of .07 (here in CA anyway) is perfectly legal.

I am sorry I "misspoke" . It's perfectly fine to drive if you've been drinking and don't blow over a .08. I am glad that was cleared up.

Well, I think that what some are suggesting is over the top also. Do they want their taxes to pay to build more prisons? Do they realize if someone kills someone as a result of a DUI it's considered involountary manslaughter, not MURDER. I was an EMT, I have been on Ambulance calls where some of the people were stone drunk,I was on a call where a young woman was killed because she and her Dh and another couple, both driving econoline vans pulled off to the shoulder of the road. they had been out to a restaurant and had a few drinks with their meals, the guys needed to take a leak in the woods, well, this car full of three other guys were also drinking, the driver wasn't over the legal limit, but he hit the van just as one of the woman age 26 was walking around the side of the van, the side view mirror wacked her in her head, twisted her neck with such force, it tore her jugular vein, she bled to death before we could get her to the hospital.

To this day, I will never forget seeing her husband's face in tears asking me "How can I tell my two children that their Mommy is dead" I came into the Er and slammed my clip board on the table, I had to bite my tongue to keep from lashing out at one of the guys grinning behind the curtain.

Yes, people should have designated drivers, but as I told my expirience this guy was not considered drunk. People do stupid moves on the road and are not drunk, just careless, and they kill people too. A big factor is Truck Drivers who FALL ASLEEP!

If someone blows under the legal limit, no I don't think they should be penalized. It's so hard to know though wether or not you are under the limit, so basically I just wonder why a person would want to take that chance? If there were breathalizers available at bars and retaurants that serve alcohol and people could test before they got behind the wheel, that might solve some situations. Is that practical or affordable though? Probably not. (If someone could invent and market disposable breathalizers for a reasonable cost,

That is absolutely false.

I don't care how emotionally charged up you are about the topic.
