It was interesting wasn't it!? I think what is interesting is the desire to have a court that is "more cohesive" bench that has a greater agreement about the law. I'm sure that's fine...if the bench is in line with your way of thinking ;)
It's naive to believe ANY manmade government (even U.S) cannot oppress its own people. The right to bear arms is the only defense for everyday people to counter a tyrannical government
There are plenty of examples throughout history when a single government official turned on its people and tortured/murdered millions
And the U.S. has its own example -
Post-Katrina, the police were confiscating firearms from law-abiding citizens for two to three weeks until the Louisiana Supreme Court made the police STOP. What would YOU have used to defend you and your family from some thug who just busted down your door ?
Just another reason why I cannot vote for Obama......his original stance on guns was to leave the decision up to local governments (and he said this Post-Katrina)
While a society with NO guns, and no reason to have them except for hunting might appear to be ideal, you are treating the symptom rather than the cause
The way to treat the cause is to de-glorify violence in our society, and that starts with 1 individual at a time. Same could be said for hip-hop music......the majority of which degrades women and promotes an anti-authority theme. Simply don't buy it and encourage others to stop buying it, and you have done your part

I think people can feel a little paranoid at times. A lot of people (not all) are not combat trained and can be more of a danger then defense.
