Found this summary on the Obama Facebook page but I checked out the website and the summary is accurate according to the nonpartisan Tax policy Center.

The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center found that Mr. Obama's plan would amount to a tax cut for 81 percent of all households, or 95.5 percent of those with children. The center calculated that by 2012 the Obama plan would let middle-income taxpayers keep about 5 percent more income on average, or nearly $2,200 a year, while Mr. McCain would give them an average 3 percent break, or about $1,400. The richest 1 percent would pay an average $19,000 more in taxes each year under Mr. Obama's plan but see a tax cut of more than $125,000 under Mr. McCain.

Sure a flat tax on ALL income would be most fair but that has never been introduced yet and is not on this year's voting ballet.

I guarantee that it is easier for my family (DH, me, DD, and DS) to live on our salary here in IN than it would be for an equal family to live on three times our budget in CA. That's just part of why I think that tax rates based on income level can be incredibly unfair and hypocritical.

The Progressive tax base takes that into account and that is why taxes rise steadily.

No mom-faith, the progressive tax ignores that completely.

If I make $30,000 in, say, OK, I will live about as well, or maybe a little better than making $70,000 in San Francisco.

" I am poor as heck but I would never in a million years vote for someone I do not trust and seems egocentric!"
I'm not poor. I'm not wealthy, but I'm not poor. I also would not vote for someone I do not trust, but I don't consider someone egocentric, because they have a vision of helping people and act on that vision. I wouldn't vote for a selfish person, a person who was an ideologue, someone with a bad temper, a person with a mean vision or no vision, a person who punished dissenters, ignored evidence, or relied on magical thinking for important decisions. I feel reasonably comfortable with Obama - much more comfortable than I do with the McCain ticket.

The only seriously bad problem I have with Obama is lack of experience - the fact that he's not an insider. Yes, I think being an insider is a good thing. Fortunately, Obama showed good judgment by putting Biden on the ticket. He picked someone with vastly more experience than himself and someone who could stand up to him when he's wrong.
