Agreed. I thought my parents were idiots when I was a teen. :)

I haven't raised a teenager and I'm sure it's much harder than it might seem to get through to them...

Hello

I am due next Saturday and I am about to give birth to a baby girl myself I am blessed to be 34 yrs old, have a career, and a loving man and support that I need in order to have a child but I agree these teens having babies and its "glamourized" to young girls such as hey look at me get pregnant and get a GED and you got it made ( ie Jamie Spears) and as for the pact of getting pregnant its sad sorry as a teen that was the last thing on my mind I didn't want to be a Mom until I got older and went to college and etc perhaps it was being raised by loving grand parents that helped me to see that waiting was the best bet for me.

Next week on NBC June 25th at 8 PM or 9 PM there is a show about teens wanting babies and taking care of real babies its a wake up call for these teens I hope parents let their teens watch this show and educate themselves and see that having a baby is not easy as they may think its not easy at any age but geez esp as a teen ager when you are still growing up still emotinally and phyiscally lets hope parents and teachers a like can educate our teens to wait and not rush into having a baby I know my fiance' and I are going to be teaching our daughter along the way its best to wait and get out of the teen yrs being a teen and not in such a rush to grow up don't get me wrong Motherhood is something I look forward to its going to be hard yet rewarding at the same time but these teens need to slow down and we need to educate the boys and girls that want to get pregnant as well !

I believe it all comes down to the parents. Parents need to educate their children more. Being a teacher, I see the lack of sex ed a lot of children are receiving from home. It is quite sad actually. It is time for us to stop blaming the media and realize most of our children's behaviors fall back on our parenting. I do know that some children are just wild, but overall, children are lacking guidance that do things like this. You can tell as an educator the children that come from involved parents and children that come from homes where the parents don't really involve themselves in their children's education (even though some of them will disagree...maybe because they really don't know any better). That is also a huge problem. How can we expect the uneducated to educate their children? This is another topic though.

I guess that they did have knowledge about Sex education if they knew how to get pregnant...and planned for it.

Just because you know how to have sex, doesn't mean you are educated on sex. There is a MAJOR difference. You can do the deed but not know the dangers, etc. Most teens do not know most of the STD's out there..ask how many teens know of trichomonas. I still have adults swearing a cold sore is not herpes, LMAO. There is a lot of ignorance out there. Unfortunately, the parents that don't educate their children because they aren't educated or they are lazy, have children that are more likely to drop out of school, end up pregnant or in jail. It is a vicious cycle.
