The parents need to sit down with their kids and (here's a crazy idea) PARENT them. We don't need to know WHY they think they have no future...there are girls in far worse conditions that do the right thing every single day

hmm so no pact yet a whole bunch end up pregnant at the same time?

when I was in school (long long time ago) it was considered embarrassing to wind up pregnant in HS.

When I was in High School 15 years ago it was embarassing to. I think it was a pact too. Why would that many kids get pregnant if it weren't?

That's right.. while I reserve most opinions on stories til they pan out.. this doesn't make sense. There are not that many accidents.. you know?

Nothing else any poster has said more clearly illustrated the gulf between these girls lives, expectations, the "reality" of where they are than this contrast. I've no doubt that at there school there are also groups of girls who would consider it embarassing to become pregnant in high school -- but they aren't in that group.

I never saw on any network that she had reported the testing.Never get the entire truth.Giving theese girls hope and inner strength to start their lives is the job of parents. And the "village" it takes to raise a child...teachers,ect.It is the break down of the family.Activities are more important than being together.A meal at the table. They don't talk to each other any more.Too much to do,too little time.Make time to be with your children. And even then bad things happen to good familys.
