Theory about RNC being disrupted

My family's hearts and thoughts go out to the people in LA, MS and TX during this horrible hurricane called Gustav.

Here is the conspiracy I heard from my Republican parents:
The convention was scheduled in the middle of "the stormy season" in a part of the country that could be either directly or indirectly (flights) by a major storm so that President Bush would have an excuse to stay away. President Bush was scheduled to appear, but has cancelled his appearance to address the nation from Texas, where the majority of evacuees are headed.
This feeds right into my own theory, which is it was too bad for the people of New Orleans that Katrina didn't hit in an election year, particularly 2004.

Which is all fine and well except....there was no way to predict that a storm WOULD indeed hit when this was in planning phases.
Here was my dad's response when I said "the RNC can control the weather?"
"Chinese Raincloud Pellets"
I LOVE my parents, by the way. :)
I agree with you. I think your DH may have been trying to be funny or speculative, whatever. But Bush claimed that God wanted him to be President, you see what that got us! But knowing the Republicans, they will use Gustav to their advantage in some way.
