Here's my question, and I don't mean this condescendingly, I'm genuinely curious....how long would it take you to unlock all the measures you have in place, load and unlock your gun, aim and fire if you awoke in the middle of the night to the sound of glass crashing in your bedroom? What if it was RJs bedroom...would you get your gun first?
It honestly seems to me that while the safety precautions are ABSOLUTELY necessary, they impede the whole purpose of keeping a gun in your home for safety sake. No?
"It dosen't occur to me to take a weapon hiking or backpacking or even camping."
Me either. For our honeymoon my husband and I had the grand idea to go camping in the Shasta Forrest. As we were packing up my dad's truck, he hands my new husband a shot gun. Dh and I looked at each other like, "WTF!?" and my dad says, "Better safe than sorry," we both shrugged, packed the gun in the back of the truck and laughed as we drove off. It actually made me feel LESS safe having a gun that neither of us were familiar with sitting in our truck! DH was like, "Don't I have to have a license or something for this?!?"

LOL, it takes about 15 seconds for the one in our room, the others are not for protection, but hunting and ones that relatives have passed down.
So when the bad guys break in you are counting on having time to go open your safe?
Rose
My mistake earlier....so when the bad guys break in you have to open two chain locks and two safes and then load the gun.
>>The only way you could do it that fast is to know how/where everything is.<<
And never ever wake up
