I'm watching it now and just wondered what others are thinking.

I absolutely LOVE John S. McCain!!
Zzzzzzzzzzz
Rousing enough at the end, but who sat through all the other stuff to here his plea? Boring. Palin had me enthralled.
Do you think the Reps are nervous about supposedly handing their party over to a maverick who is against corruption? How did it go over with all of the lobbiests they are meeting with when not on the convention floor? Hope the corrupt members of the RNC are running scared.
"Are convention speeches worth much anyway? Just curious."
Good question. I think they are meant to rouse the party, intrigue the undecided and make highly emotional appeals. I have trouble with the format in general (long lecture style, slow speaking for the live audience, lots of interruptions)- and watching a public speech on TV even more - so my attention wanes no matter who is speaking. I did make it all the way through Palin the night before but had to multi-task through both Obama and McCain. I suppose i was attentive to Palin because she was unknown to me and i've heard the other guys before.
I'm not sure the convention speech gains a lot as the nominee, but if you flub that speech you are in doo-doo.

That is the million dollar question for me.

i would really like to believe that is true. i think his past record shows he is not always in line with the party.
BUT i also read in news reports he really wanted Leiberman for VP - but bowed to the party to pick Palin.
AND let us not forget, the corruption he is speaking of is at least half in his own party. one thing i thought they did an excellent job of accomplishing in this convention was making the audience forget they supported the current administration. not one wave from the President or VP since Bush finished his speech.
