Thoughts on Paul Ryan?

I'm kind of new to iVillage, so I hope I'm posting in the right place!

I was just wondering what you think about Romney's VP choice.  I don't know a lot about Paul Ryan, so I don't have much of an opinion yet.

"Are you talking about crazy bills in the House that would take away rights from women?"
Oh my goodness no, over 400 bills dealing with women's rights. How very funny. Some people realize that women are more than free bc and abortion, other's apparently not so much.
No, I'm talking about substantive bills, many of them aimed at improving the economy and the job's market. I'm also talking about budgets that passed the house over these 3 years.

Do you have a link to all those bills? I'd like to see just what the House passed that the Senate took a pass on. Thanks.

IMO Biden was using a terminology that would resonate with his audience.    As far as the business of Romney it is that he does not have the track record of a person who will be able to understand the feelings of the middle classes.  To be observant it is not possible that having lived and worked in one socio-economic strata for him to be able to.

One of the problems for many Americans is the very different lifestyles that are part of our society.

A farm bill passed the house, sits in the Senate, for example.

Wade through all these, if you wish.

"Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., said her chamber would not take up the bill, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Thursday he is “following her lead.”

“I’m not passing a bill that only covers some help for some producers,” Stabenow said.

Instead, she urged the House to pass a five-year farm policy bill that addresses drought assistance in a more comprehensive manner. The Senate passed its version (S 3240) of such legislation June 21. " http://public.cq.com/docs/news/news-000004136470.html

The Dems in the Senate take up nothing passed by the house compromise on nothing and generally are playing politics to the detriment of the country. Reid makes me sick.

The farm bill was just passed on August 2, 2012, by the House. I don't think the Senate is even in session right now.

As for your second link, it only goes to July 31, 2012. I did try to find anything to support your contention that over 400 bills had been passed by the House and were sitting in the Senate as well as a list and the only things I could find were people making comments in the comment sections of various articles.

Thanks for the link. It doesn't make sense to pass piecemeal bits of legislation.

Why isn't the House passing comprehensive bills instead of taking care of business in one piece of legislation? How many times has the House voted on legislation regarding women's rights?

Focused like a laser on jobs and the economy, my tush.

I voted for Harry Reid. You're welcome. ;-)

You might be interested in a piece which ran on PBS this evening. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/politics/july-dec12/edwards_08-21.html

Most assuredly, it's not just the Democrats who are "playing politics to the detriment of the country".
