I don't see it that way at all. I would say I'm right in line with the OP. I'd call myself agnostic and I find what was done as most distasteful and disrespectful of those among us who are more religious.
I mean really what was the point? To insult the worshipers? Demean their beliefs during one of their most sacred celebrations? It was really lame and merely an attempt to make a mockery of those who have religious beliefs.
I remember on one trip to Turkey I took where the Cruise Ship I was on at the time did not allow the passengers to debark unless they were properly attired so as not to offend the people in Turkey. I had to buy some extra clothes so as to be properly covered. I did not even thing to march right into their land and expose my bare arms simply because I felt that was my right and did not agree with the need to keep them covered! I would never have disrespected them them and their beliefs that way. The same thing goes for removing my shoes before entering a Temple in Egypt.
Reminds me too of my homeschooling group's sensitivity to our Jehovah's Witness members. Being as they don't participate in traditions most of the other did, Valentine's Day, Halloween, Christmas etc....we made sure to let them know when/if there would be activities related to those events so they could choose not to come on those days. We also made sure if that was our regularly scheduled meetings or park days that those type of activities would be over by a certain time so they could still come and enjoy the rest of the day with the group.
It about nothing more than having respect for others--and in this example that was absent. It's like posting anti war propaganda at the funeral of a fallen soldier.
>> I guess then that all Non Christians, Athiests, etc. should plan to report to work on December 25'th and get paid their regular hourly wages.....instead of getting the day off and getting paid for it.....or working and getting holiday pay for it.<<
What about all the government workers of all kinds; city, state and federal. Have you any idea how many of those there are? Why should the taxpayer have to pay for them all to have a religious holiday off? Shouldn't they have to take their vacation time if they don't want to work that day? Why is the government directing supporting religious holidays at all at taxpayer expense?
that's not how the OP presented her argument. the way i interpreted it was that the problem is not with the attack on christianity or the religious meaning of christmas, but on the tradition of the US as being a christian nation. the problem is that "the other" has invaded our country and "the other is here to terrorize our country (ironically described by the OP as the best, most
i didnt realize we were discussing the atheist sign in particular. even so, i see nothing wrong with a group wanting their beliefs displayed in an area that has apparently been accepted as a space appropriate for religious symbols. if

"We don't have to cry and whine about other's decorations or beliefs or holidays, or even about red pens in grade school.
"if your faith is really that strong than you shouldnt worry about being swayed or confused or offended by other faiths. "
I agree - no matter what your religion is.
Obviously I meant that

What is?
I thought we were discussing the issue of the the atheist sign posted next to the holiday religious symbol denigrating religion as an institution?
So that.
The government does not "support" Christmas as a religious holiday but rather, a secular one.
