Why does the government have the right to tell people what to do with their bodies?? O'yeah because it falls in line with what YOU believe.

The government already tells each and every one of us what we can and cannot do with our bodies.

Probably the same ones that do not believe in modern medicine.

Not being able to afford insurance is a horrible position, extremely stressful especially when you're pregnant with twins (congratulations though!!!).

I don't know if this is the case but I'm guessing that the mandated insurance for children would mean expanding access to SCHIP so if you couldn't afford to pay for family coverage or elected not to, you could enroll your children in your state's program.

For families, I know they've talked about opening up the standard option Congressional Blue Cross Blue Shield plan. In 2008, the full monthly premium charged by that plan was $1,027.95 for family coverage. The federal government contributed $713.48, and the enrollee paid the remainder (including a $600 deductible and $15 co-payments for doctor visits). For those that could not afford that, the government might offer a cheaper plan. One plan costs less than half the price of the Blue Cross plan, but it carries a $1,000 deductible plus 20 percent co-pays on hospital and physician’s services.

There's an Obama campaign headquarters across the street from my husband's work - I may stop in and ask them if they have more details on what middle income families can be expected to pay. This very much affects my family and extended family so now I'm REALLY curious.

Obama outright said he would not MANDATE something unless it is easily achievable for everyone. He will expand Medicaid and SCHIP programs so more families are covered FOR FREE and bring down costs for everyone else. Right now NY state Medicaid you have to make under 28k/yr to qualify. This would extend it to a much higher yearly paycheck. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/765/

Then who'll pay their medical bills?
