I don't for one second buy that he sat in that audience (which he said he didn't on Friday...but now says he did) and listened to that HATE for 20 years and it has nothing to do with who he is. It SHAPES who you are...I don't care what he or anyone else says. You can't hear garbage go in for 20 years and not show the ill effects somewhere.
Perfect example -- under pressure he threw his grandmother under the bus. Basically called her a racist. Now THERE'S a loving thing to do! If he does that to his loved ones, what would he do to his 'enemy'?
Very good speech. I found myself nodding throughout.
But most of it boils down to a history lesson and a summary of the times we live in now...and some good intentions thrown in for the voters.
I guess all we can do is hope he means it.
I'm still very cynical and find it very hard to believe a word out that comes out of any politician's mouth though. So, we'll see I guess. Only time will tell...
You honestly think that he didn't know that man preached that way? He chose this man to be his Spiritual advisor and had NO Idea he preached this way? Hmm before I choose an advisor I think I'd check to see if they align with me.
To say he didn't know he preached these hate the white man sermons is beyond me. He was there for how many years? .. yet he didn't know?
No, I don't know more than he does on where he's been or what he's heard... still it goes towards Credibility as the PP suggested
While the speech was really good--I believe it failed in its purpose. That purpose was to explain why he stayed in a racist, anti-white church for 20 years.
Why would white people or those of other races take a chance and vote for him now? What if Obama believes like Wright? Where does that leave white people?

Just out of curiosity?
Not much to be honest.

I don't trust the dude, pure and simple.
He didn't call his grandmother a racist, he said she occasaionlly uttered racial or ethnic sterotypes that made him cringe.
And you are a better judge of the truth of Obama's life than he is?
You don't mean "the truth" you mean "what I think is a resonable explanation".
He gave his.
