One of my favorite Obama quotes:

Hmmm... remind me, who was in control of congress when Clinton was president? It's all Clinton's fault - and the dems - when the republicans controlled BOTH houses? Really?

As far as your little topic change goes, this post and the other (about people only voting for Obama b/c he's black) says everything that needs to be said about that. I'm sorry that race is all you see. I can guarantee that those of us not so concerned with people's ethnicity lead much fuller lives. MY children will travel the world and learn other people's perspectives, and will be better people for it.

Your quote for Obama is heartwarming - ITA with it. After 911 a lot of law abiding AMERICAN citizens were harassed b/c of their ethnicity and/or religion. And since so many americans are completely ignorant when it comes to world religions, it wasnt only the muslims who were discriminated against. What would you like to have done - set up internment camps a la WWII? Deport all the arabs? It SHOULD be obvious that not every Arab is a terrorist.

A number of Sikh men and women were harassed, attacked and even killed in the United States after 9/11 because our honest and upright citizenry didn't realize that the turban Sikh men wear does not indicate they are Islamic.....

McCain tried to warn us but the democrats prevented any changes to the laws requiring banks to make those loans.

record … suggest that he has never departed in any major way from his party’s embrace of deregulation... e has consistently characterized himself as fundamentally a deregulator he has no history prior to the presidential campaign of advocating steps to tighten standards on investment firms.

McCain has always been in his party’s mainstream on the issue. In early 1995 … McCain promoted a moratorium on federal regulations of all kinds. 'I’m always for less regulation,' he told The Wall Street Journal last March…. 'I am fundamentally a deregulator.'
