"He Lied" About Bill Ayers?

October 10, 2008

McCain cranks out some false and misleading attacks on Obama's connection to a 1960s radical.

I won't vote for the BO man. Obama stinks to high heaven where all of his personal relationships are concerned. He knows a domestic terrorist, of whom he now claims he thought was rehabilitated. He's known Jeremiah Wright, his racist ex-pastor, for more than 20 years, and has sat in Wright's church for those 20 years, listening to Wright spew his racist hate and anti-American sentiments while denying he ever heard wright say any such thing. Then there's Father Flager. The BO man has had to throw all of these people under the bus, including his wife Michelle for her own anti-American comments. Where there's a history of denial, there's a problem, and the BO man has loads of credibility problems where I'm concerned.

Even when they call out Obama for misleading? Are they not to be believed then too?

Just wondering, have you gone on www.factcheck.org ? They certainly appear to be non-partisan and defintely have fact-checked Obama as well when he has made false statements. According to their site -

FactCheck.org, which is nonpartisan, also receives funding from the Annenberg Foundation. But we are in no way connected to the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which finished its work long before we came into being in late 2003.

Also

The group was the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, started by a $49 million grant from the Annenberg Foundation, which was established by the publisher Walter Annenberg, a prominent Republican whose widow, Leonore, is a contributor to the McCain campaign.

"I believe in social responsibility. A man's service to others must be at least in ratio to the character of his own success in life. When one is fortunate enough to gain a measure of material well being, however small, service to others should be uppermost in his mind." - Walter H. Annenberg (1951)

"Walter H. Annenberg was born in 1908 and enjoyed a distinguished career as a publisher, broadcaster, diplomat, and philanthropist.

He graduated from The Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey and attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He entered the family publishing business in Philadelphia where he became the President of Triangle Publications in 1940 and, subsequently, Chairman of the Board. While serving as Editor and Publisher of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Mr. Annenberg saw the need for a publication for teenage girls and, in 1944, established Seventeen Magazine. In 1953, as a result of his belief that television's growth would create a demand for more information on the part of viewers, he established TV Guide as a national publication.

A man with a deep interest in education, Mr. Annenberg founded The Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania in 1958 and The Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California in 1971. In 1983, he established the Washington Program in Communications Policy Studies in response to growing awareness that difficult government and industry problems were emerging in the rapidly changing telecommunications field.

Even while an active businessman, Annenberg had an interest in public service. After Richard M. Nixon was elected President, he appointed Annenberg as ambassador to the Court of St. James's in the United Kingdom. In 1969 Annenberg sold The Inquirer and the Philadelphia Daily News, which he bought in 1957, to Knight Newspapers for US$55 million. After being appointed as ambassador, he became quite popular in Britain, eventually being knighted with the Order of the British Empire.

Annenberg led a lavish lifestyle. His "Sunnylands" winter estate in Rancho Mirage, California (near Palm Springs) hosted gatherings with such people as President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan, Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby and Charles, Prince of Wales. It was Annenberg who introduced President Reagan to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, and the Reagans often celebrated New Year's Eve with the Annenbergs. Leonore Annenberg was named by President Ronald Reagan as the State Department's Chief of Protocol as well."

The founder of the Annenberg Foundation was no left-wing socialist. He was a conservative philanthropist with a deep concern about education. To criticize factcheck because it shows more inaccuracies in smears against Obama is to be myopic and unwilling to acknowledge that there ARE more inaccuracies in smears against Obama.

I have no problem with people using Obama's initials as shorthand but you obviously used them to imply something other than his name. We're not allowed to name call on here and so I expect you to call him either by his full name, his first or last name, or just his initials.

By using "the BO man" you greatly reduce your own crediblity.

And just to point out the obvious, she didn't just say the "BO man" she followed it up with "stinks to high heaven". Even a conservative would have a hard time denying the intent.
