I started saying it 2 years ago--when MADE IN CHINA is printed in gigantic red letters on EVERYTHING, and made in usa, even if something is, can't be found in any conspicuous place on an item, we are done as a superpower. Try and buy a radio, a TV, a piece of children's clothing, or a toy that's not MADE IN CHINA.

China owns our debt, runs our marketplace, has trapped the average consumer without them even realizing it, and has tied our hands behind our backs. The average American can't afford to stop buying Chinese goods even if they wanted to, and continues to do so even though they're lead painted and toxic (even the food is tainted).

Our manufacturing power has been sold to China...and most people don't even get how stupid that was. Our power came from our wealth, and our ability to manage it. We sold the manufacturing arm of our wealth, and now we are indebted to those to whom we sold it, and we can hardly afford to buy the little bit we still produce. The orchard owner doesn't get rich selling the TREES, the orchard owner makes money selling the FRUIT. The trees are a one-time sale, and soon the orchard owner is too poor to buy his fruit from those to whom he sold the trees.

A recession--or even a depresion--would be the best lesson for the world right now. We did this to ourselves, and we ought to pay for it, and not let Daddy Uncle Sam save our butts from it buy bailing our economy out. We need to re-center on AMERICAN goods and service, rebuild AMERICAN manufacturing, and it would take a catastrophic collapse in the economy for anyone to wake up and take our power BACK from China. I say let the mess unfold, and let's do what the United States does best: do things the RIGHT way, on our own.

I rather think it's wishful thinking on the part of the French and Germans, who desperately want to be relevant in the world again.

Even with the bust, the US still remains the largest economic and military power in the world.

IF Obama wins we will be even LESS of a SUPERPOWER! THE other countries see him as weak and easy to manipulate!

Just saw on the news today that, Chavez stated Venezuela is going to start construction of a nuclear reactor, not to mention Russia has ships near the Caribbean Islands.
