This debate allowed me to see their PERSONALITY, their ability to FOCUS on what matters to me, and WHO we're really voting for. I didn't have ill feelings toward McCain before, but I sure do now!
The debate reinforced my decision to vote for Obama when McCain chose Palin as VP. Obama has it together, knows what he wants and appears to know how to achieve it. McCain seems impressed with his party's description of him as "maverick". With all of his touted experience, he should have already been able to prove himself, but he has not. I do admire his military experience, but that doesn't make him a good commander in chief. I am a registered Independent who wanted to give both candidates their chance to win me over. Obama has done this. And as I said the added zinger to sway me to Obama was when Palin entered the picture. This woman may be a very nice person but she in no way is ready to be President if she had to be. Instead, she is a pawn of the Republican party, used by virtue of her gender, by the men in charge. If elected, her failings will be labeled as such "because she is a woman", which will be unfortunate. Her failings are not, will not be, because of her gender, but because of her obvious lack of knowledge and (so far) unintelligent responses to direct questions.
I thought that McCain proved that he is the more qualified person to be president because of his experience, knowledge, proven record and relationships with foreign leaders.John McCain is looking what's best for the country in the long term whereas Obama just wants to put a bandaid on the problems in order to make himself look good in the now.
