What Obama means by tax the wealthy
Here's a closer look at how the Democratic candidate defines well-off for different households, and what his proposals will mean for them.

>>If the wealthy are supposed to fund lower income programs and always help out, why is it that they are so hated by those same people?<<

Is there someone posting here who receives government assistance?

I am not speaking of government assitance, but lower income pay less in taxes because the higher class pay more, therefore they are helping all of those in lower income brackets.

Just because we don't have assitannce in terms of welfare, we pay less of a percentage and expect people better off to just pay more.

As a 2 income professional family, I have no problem with the Obama's proposals. Our actual tax rate of our earned and unearned income, including federal, ssn, medicare, state, and local, is about 25%. We have no unusual tax shelters, just the usual mortgage, charitable contributions, retirement funds, and a family of 5.

I feel fortunate in my comfortable financial position (I had some government help to get here), not jealous of the wealthy, and I want the same opportunities for my children.

You have a problem with someone making over 1,000,000 giving 30% of their earnings in taxes? How about someone making 75,000 giving 28%. How does that grab you?

Actually if you have a 2 person family working $250,000 isn't much.
