What Obama means by tax the wealthy
Here's a closer look at how the Democratic candidate defines well-off for different households, and what his proposals will mean for them.

So does working for a living.
I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure
One of the reasons the poor remain poor is that such a huge percentage of their income must go to necessities.

I just don't get that at all. I save 10% of every paycheck. Whether it is $10 or $35 or like in the case of a tax refund or something, $100, none of them has a greater impact on my ability to survive on the remaining 90% of the pie.
LIFESTYLE of course, is a choice though.

We need to keep in perceptive that the bottom 80 percent of the population own less than half of the nation's wealth and the top one percent own double that amount.
I think it's difficult for some to grasp that, about the bottom 80% of the population owns less than half of the nations wealth. A friend of mine told me she read that a person has to start saving at LEAST 300.00 a month starting at age 25 in order to be able to make 1,000,000 for their retirement at age 66. Or something to that affect. EVERY month. How many 25 year olds can afford to do that or will do that?
It truly appalls me the cavalier attitude, the "ME" generation attitude of so many young people these days.
"Why should most people (80 percent) pay more in taxes even though they own less wealth? How is that fair and equal?"
Wait....you are baiting and switching here. The INDIVIDUAL pays more in taxes, or as a collective group they pay more? Are you saying MY tax rate is higher than a wealthier person?
I only made it to calculus, so I'm no mathematician...but 10% is 10%. There is no emotion, no perception, no "lifestyle" choices...so yeah, 10% for you and 10% for me absolutely is fair and equal.
"It truly appalls me the cavalier attitude, the "ME" generation attitude of so many young people these days."
What does THAT have anything to do with the flat or fair tax discussion at hand??? I happen to agree with you, but fail to see the relevance.
