What Obama means by tax the wealthy
Here's a closer look at how the Democratic candidate defines well-off for different households, and what his proposals will mean for them.

I've got a news flash for you (tho I'm sure you won't believe it), that's hogwash that "they" are doing better since Bush's tax cuts, a myth perpetrated by those who don't care to read, study, understand or tell

You tell me then. My family is among the top 5% in wage earners in the US though on the very low end of that equation. We paid approx 25% of our income in federal including ssn and medicare, state (one of the highest, I think), and local taxes (fairly low). We had no tax shelters other than the usual mortgage, retirement, charitable contributions.

I'm sure that people who made less than half of what we did, paid similar percentages of their income or perhaps more based on their ability to not max out on some deductions. How is that fair?

Perhaps they should, because they benefit the most?

Yeah? Let the CEO pay a little more the privilege of prosperity?

Whew...you need to chill. Life dealt you some blows. I get it.

I still think I pay plenty in taxes though...your misfortunes will not convince me otherwise. We work hard for our money...just like everyone else and I will not feel guilty for wanting the gov't to stay out of my pocket.

We are not wealthy by any means, but we do ok. If we do ok...we should be able to
