What Obama means by tax the wealthy
Here's a closer look at how the Democratic candidate defines well-off for different households, and what his proposals will mean for them.

<>Really, how so? Now if you said a business owner with a useful product or service to sell with enough capital to market and produce said produce or service provides jobs, then you may have a point. Business investments come from a number of different places e.g. goverment, venture capitalists, the market, oversees investors. Self-funding could be one, I guess, but that would be a rarity. <>

I am not understanding your post. The statement was; "the wealthy create jobs" and this is your reply? Did you know most people in the US work for small businesses or private companies? Do you think people that own and operate these companies are poor?

Trust me, I am WELL AWARE of what we pay for. But see the difference is...I want LESS gov't (hence less of their garbage to pay for) whereas you want MORE gov't (MORE of their garbage to pay for).

You can't have it both ways...you either want BIG gov't (LOTS of social programs) or SMALL gov't (very very few social programs). If you want BIG gov't...then quit complaining about how much waste there is. You can triple it (or more) when we continue to add programs that will never work.

>>>so according to you Liberals are liars?<<<

Please note that I'M not the one who said that.

That's far from claiming that "the wealthy" create jobs as pp did.

Are small business owners wealthy? Not in my experience, in fact, far from it, they are usually in the middle class. IME, "the wealthy" do not create jobs, innovators with a service or produce to sell with the knowledge on how to manage a business create jobs. Some may become Bill Gates, but as more often small businesses statistically fail, most live much closer to the edge.

As a small business owner who started my business with little of my own capital, I think I know the model. I had a business plan to show my investors about the business and explain how it would turn a profit. My main investment was my idea and plans on how to turn that idea into a profitable business. No personal wealth needed, I invested only about 10% of initial startup costs.

"I paid attention to it. I think information isn't always useful if it negates your point. Just because someone makes more doesn't always mean the worker harder then their lower earning employee.

"Then TOS me. I didn't belittle anyone. If that's how you took it...that's your deal.

I agree...hard to know how to take tone online sometimes."

Unfortunately, she's not the only one taking it that way.

Didn't you say you don't care about tone?

According to the Obama plan anyone making over $250,000 a year is considered wealthy.

I really don't think he plans to hit up on the small businessmen/owners. I don't think 250,000 is all that much for a small business. Now when you get up to making over 500,000, then that is a lot. I in no way want small businesses to be hurt. I think they deserve more breaks than multi million dollar businesses. I think the 250,000 is more directed to a single or couple. That is a nice tidy sum to be making. Two professionals, that is a decent wage, but not extravagant. There are couples where my DH works that probably make 250,000 combined incomes. Once couple in particular, he is an engineer, and the wife is a dentist. Personally, I feel my DH could be making more, but he's been with this company since 1992, and we are both going on 59, we can't afford to change now, plus, in the line of work he is in, things are slow at times. He is a Professional Land surveyor, but his title is Chief of Survey, he is incharge of 3 other survey teams.

"Meanwhile, they haven't got a clue as to how many taxes (payroll and otherwise) the wealthy man has to pay for their sorry behinds."

I pay my own taxes, thank you.
