What Obama means by tax the wealthy
Here's a closer look at how the Democratic candidate defines well-off for different households, and what his proposals will mean for them.

"Yeah UHC is a bad...bad deal."

Don't blame it on UHC - those children of illegals already qualify for free healthcare.

Also - the plan that Obama is proposing isn't actually a TRUE UHC.

$250,000 for a married couple defines "Wealthy" ?? That is crazy. With home prices easily 3 times that amount where my parents live, gas prices at $5.00 a gallon to commute into the cities that afford them the jobs that pay as well as they do, and 4 kids to (theoretically) pay college tuition for...$250,000 is smack dab middle class.

I'd be much happier with this "wealthy" bar being set at $400K or $500K per family.

"The only thing I'd advise is to link it to some sort of index so that it changes as wages and cost of living do. "

So wouldn't that "index" vary by geographical region then, too?

"You had me until I saw Bill Moyers. He is NOTORIOUSLY liberal...and you think this is a fair piece?

Uhhhhh...sure. ok.

You might want to do a little more research."

I don't see where it matters if he has a liberal reputation - it doesn't have any affect on the report.

"Combined we have worked over 30 years, not to say others don't work as hard, but really there is such a class warfare in this thread it makes me sad."

Laura~ Based on how much money we make (and, we make "enough" to qualify for free meals at school and for State Funded preschool) you would think that I would be joining in on that class warfare. I just don't see the point in doing that though. Why would I begrudge my neighbor or my father because they worked YEARS to get to the point where they are making what they are now?

"DH DOES provide healthcare for his employees. And while it might be easier for him if he didn't have to...it would be bad for our country...so no...we are not in favor of UHC. Not on any level."

And under Obama's proposed plan, he still could, and probably would, provide this.
