In your own opinion, what do you classify as "RICH" -- as in yearly income?????

Any kind of tax proposal will not solve the fact that states have different costs of living.

Location, location, location. ;o) I'd have to say if you make over 250k you are doing pretty well anywhere. HOWEVER 250k in L.A. oR NYC is more like 60k here where we are... (my in-laws at one time made 80k between the 2 of them & they were in the top 5% here... also the most taxed.. but that was during the Reagan years) it also depends on your credit situation (luckily we got rid of all our credit cards while in Germany so it's not an issue for us). We have about a 32k yearly income this year but since we have no credit cards we are a little more comfortable that someone making 50k with a "normal" amount of credit card debt.

Unless we've seen how all the programs and spending is going to be paid for, how can anyone believe their taxes won't go up? There is so much more spending being spoken about by Obama. Even the one CNN commentator who's an Obama supporter (his name's escaping me now) said Obama's not going to be honest about it just like Clinton wasn't. He said if he takes office, then he'll use the line of, "Things are worse off than I realized so I'm going to have to ....." and then he'll reveal the tax increases to the public. This was an Obama supporter (he's well spoken) that was very up front about how the politicians bait and switch this sort of thing because no one wants to hear their taxes are going to be raised so they lie for now and then come up with a good excuse to change their story later. He was very non chalant about the way this is done. Another sign that people have accepted so much lying in politics that now the methods of lying are explained as simply as 2+2=4.

American's new math:
60% of Americans pay taxes; 5% of Americans pay nearly 90% of the taxes collected; but one presidential candidate has gotten Americans to believe he's going to cut taxes for 95% of Americans (and doesn't mention he's not going to renew the current tax cuts set to expire after the next president takes office).
