Just because he can say "change" and "hope" a bunch of times doesn't qualify him to be president.

Nope, didn't miss it. When I read the whole transcript and didn't just listen to that one tiny part of the sermon out of context, I really didn't find it offensive. He was making the point that if the government violates the rights of certain groups of people, as has happened in the past, then we would not be acting in a christian way. For acting against his word, God would not bless America but damn America.

"Right, the educational realm. They had five years and $100 million to distribute. A review of the Annenberg challenge on ERIC (collegiate abstract search engine) can sum the project up in three words: no significant findings. In other words, they managed to do nothing in five years with $100 million dollars. You want to give this guy a several trillion dollar budget to play with? Keep the change."

Not surprising. Look at how successful the multi-billion dollar, 7-year academic focused No Child Left Behind has been at raising test scores. Instead of neglible effects, it has actually had negative effects in many schools. Problems with education are multi-faceted and entrenched and what has become clear is that there is no silver bullet fix for failing schools.

The Annenberg effort has been the largest private effort to try to create reform in some of the worst and most complex inner-city systems in the country. It did what private philanthropy should do - it tried a particular approach and tested it's efficacy without a cost to tax payers. We should be grateful for it.

There hasn't been much talk about education in this election unfortunately but because it's a primary issue for me, I've done some digging. Obama's plans as president show that he learned from his Annenberg experience and I think that's a very good thing.

I believe that John McCain is a good man however he has allowed his VP Sarah Palin to stir up these racial words of hate. I applaud J McCain for correcting the woman in his rally because even he sees that's it was getting out of hand.

Oh and by the way when those hateful words were being said you know who was smiling as if she had accomplished what was on her agenda Sarah Palin!

Hey, I myself am leery of the judgement Senator Obama has shown, when it is you consider the number of people he's worked with and
