It appears McCain himself summed up these sorts of attacks himself quite well.
"Sooner or later people are going to figure out that if all you run is negative attack ads you don't have much of a vision for the future, or you're not ready to articulate it."
That was John McCain in 2000, commenting on the disgusting attacks against him by Karl Rove, George Bush, and a few of the people now doing their very dirty work for him.
They BOTH do need to make it clear at ALL the rallies that they do not condone violence or the hatred that has been spewed by their supporters and I have only seen once (yesterday) where McCain has done that. Palin still hasn't. They are furthering the hatred by pounding the accusations constantly that "this is not a man who sees American as we do" "he pals around with terrorists" "He's DANGEROUS" even if it is in a "folksy" manner. Yes McCain tried to calm down the people yesterday & i applaud him for that however with all the hate talk it's too little too late. Even his own endorsers are telling him that. http://www.mlive.com/grpress/news/index.ssf/2008/10/former_governor_milliken_backs.html
Palin just got cited in the Troopergate scandal for acting unethically according to Alaska’s Executive Branch Ethics Act - how does that square with the image of her that you are portraying?
McCain doesn't seem to know what he thinks of Obama. One second he's calling him a good family man and decent person and the next he's saying his career began in Ayer's living room and that he's a liar. Yesterday, after all that back and forth, when a guy said he was scared of Obama as President, McCain said this:
“I want to be president of the United States and obviously I do not want Senator Obama to be, but I have to tell you — I have to tell you — he is a decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared" of "as president of the United States.” The crowd booed loudly at Mr. McCain’s response. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/11/us/politics/11campaign.html?hp
Why do you say that Wright preaches hate? I am genuinely asking this question because reading his transcripts, I have literally not seen that. I have seen anger over injustices perpetrated on various groups but I have not seen hate.

Maybe he's waiting for the right moment to articulate it?
